Underhill has provided consulting survey services to Parkland (formerly Chevron) (and their contractors) at their Burnaby Refinery since 1996. Numerous control, as-built, and layout surveys have been undertaken to support the expansion and upgrading of the facility.
Detailed three-dimensional laser scans are now the principle method of collecting detailed as-built information used in the redesign of parts of the plant. A typical scanning campaign can have upwards of 50 control points to support 30 scans, generating over 20 million points. As-built elements can include piping, vessels, machinery platforms, and support structures.
This survey project included as-built and layout surveys, and three dimensional laser scanning.
